6th Grade Honors Science: Week 4
We will continue to dwell into the transfer of Thermal Energy and how this is used to differentiate between HEAT and TEMPERATURE.
- The Science Six Weeks Exam is scheduled for Tuesday, December 13.
6th Grade District Science Fair Winners
These students will be advancing to the Regional Science Fair in Brownsville, which will be taking place in February.
- 1st Place in Animal Science: Edgar Garza & Alonzo Trevino w/ Ants and Sugar
- 2nd Place in Earth & Environmental Science: Brianna Elizondo w/Why Don't Oceans Freeze Yet Lakes Do?
- 2nd Place in Engineering : Osbaldo Marroquin & Armando Moreno w/ Turbine Challenge.
The District Science Fair is a great way for the students to understand the importance of science in our world as well as learn from each others findings through their projects.

· Small groups activity: Heat Race:
§ Give each group a zipped plastic bag with an ice cube inside. Instruct groups to agree on a way to melt the ice cube without opening the bag. They can use anything in the room to help: sunlight, warm air, body heat, etc…
§ After all groups have finished, discuss how long each method took.
